Focusing on the technology world and its unique risks, this session will discuss best practices for increased fraud awareness and detection.

  • Internal control checks and balances to implement
  • Victim technology organizations and detection of fraud schemes

William Belvedere, CPA, CFE, is a partner at PWB CPAs & Advisors. Bill approaches his work as a listener, asking questions rather than dictating answers. A people person by nature, Bill has thirty years of industry and public accounting experience, including audit, accounting, financial reporting and fraud examinations. He has extensive experience with closely-held entities in diverse industries, public company and SEC reporting, litigation support and experience in guiding companies through mergers & acquisitions. Industries Bill has served include manufacturing, construction & lumber, software, mortgage bankers (HUD & FHA), restaurant & entertainment enterprises, nursery operations, franchisors & franchisees, real estate, distribution, and private country clubs. Bill is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College.

Bryan Ekern, CPA, is a Director at PWB CPAs & Advisors in the Audit & Assurance group. Working with a variety of clients in many industries, Bryan is able to share best practices from one client to another client and from one industry to another industry. It’s Bryan’s mission to put in the detailed front-end audit planning needed to produce efficient audits. And by staying involved with fieldwork, he can identify areas for improvement and cost reductions. He shares his critical thinking skills and passion for details with not only his clients and coworkers, but also the accounting industry; Bryan sits on the Minnesota Society of CPAs financial reporting committee, examining submitted financial statements for proper form and disclosures. Bryan is a graduate of Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
